Peter Sachs is the Head of Airspace Integration at Zipline, where he is building and executing the company’s strategy for industry standards and related topics. He is also strategically aligning the company’s work to deploy interoperable UAS Traffic Management (UTM) solutions. He is the co-chair of the US UTM Implementation Operations Committee, an elected governance body created by the companies deploying UTM shared airspace capabilities.
Previously, Peter led policymaking and rulemaking work related to BVLOS operations and UTM service approvals within the Federal Aviation Administration. His past experience includes time as an air traffic controller, where he worked on the nationwide STARS radar rollout, electronic flight strips, and safety assurance efforts. He also worked as a systems engineer for early prototype UTM services at Airbus UTM.
Since 2017, he has contributed extensively to JARUS SORA v2.0 and v2.5, and he has led and contributed to numerous ASTM standards. Peter has multiple pilot certificates and is a certified flight instructor.
