Ask the FAA: Advice from the Reviewers

Sep 05 2024

2:45 PM - 3:30 PM PDT

Room 302-303

We are all eagerly awaiting the FAA’s new Part 108 BVLOS rule that is expected to broadly enable scalable BVLOS operations without the need for operators to obtain waivers and exemptions on a case-by-case basis. But implementation of a final rule is still a few years off, so waivers and exemptions will play a critical role in enabling scalable and more complex UAS operations in the near-term before new rules go into effect. Wondering how you can best use the Part 107 waiver and 44807 exemption process to stay ahead of the curve and enable more complex UAS operations today? Are you interested in hearing about some of the waiver and exemption process changes stemming from the recent FAA Reauthorization bill and other FAA initiatives to streamline the process for obtaining waiver and exemption operational approvals? Curious to hear FAA insight into what makes a good safety case for complex and nationwide operational approvals? Members of the FAA that are helping to streamline existing application processes and who review these sorts of requests and more will be at the event to provide feedback around the most common challenges and questions that they see from waiver and exemption applications and the feedback they provide on a daily basis. Come with questions and be ready to capture details related to what’s important to the FAA, what a successful application looks like and what changes the FAA is making to streamline the process for obtaining operational approvals.
